Hotaru has spent the past year living in Kugane, taking long-term residence in one of the Hanamachi in exchange for working as a housekeeper and attendant to the Ladies who worked from those establishments.

Hotaru occasionally visited the beaches at the Ruby Sea, rarely venturing further than Okonoro. She would spend hours staring out into the water, but would never go out to swim.

Hotaru has recently boarded an airship from Kugane, traveling to Ul'dah, and she does not seem to be coping well with the heat.
