Goro is currently at the Heated Hearth of his own volition, picking up battle techniques and strategies from the variety of available instructors in order to help fulfill his mission. He offers his own courses in exchange on a variety of subjects, including samurai code and technique, stealth, disguise, and diplomacy. Frequently disappears on assignments from Maelstrom Command.

After the Battle of Carteneau Flats, Bugyo Hidenari Mori saw potential in the Eorzean nations, who managed to stand up to an enemy that was decades more advanced and coordinated than themselves. While Hingashi is an insular nation, he could not pass at the opportunity to learn how the Eorzeans managed this and use that information to strengthen his own country, so Goro and a handful other young retainers-in-training were shipped off to the Eorzean states with one goal: to trade knowledge for knowledge, sharing Hingashi's military expertise in exchange for whatever the westerners had themselves. Though Goro returns east at least once a turn to share what he has learned, this assignment is yet ongoing.
