Backstory

Ojojo was the only dual-sexed child of a set of septuplets born to Godiva Diva, a lalafell comfort girl living in Ala Nosopa. Life was sparse but simple for the first few turns of Ojo's life, feeling like a bit of an outcast from her three brothers and three sisters, but dearly loved by her mother and befriended by some of the local members of the Grigora tribe, the Keeper clan that ran Ala Nosopa and worshipped the spirits of the deceased that wandered the umbral muck. The second son of the leader of the clan, also known as the Witch of Ala Nosopa, was a particularly caring friend to her. (See: "Notes on Ala Nosopa" on the character page of Laroq'to Lacroix)

At age 12, however, Ojo's mother died under mysterious circumstances that the rest of the village evaded ever talking about, the Witch disappearing shortly after. The next ten turns were marked with a gradual degradation of Ala Nosopa's prosperity, the few merchant visitors it had had since the Garlean takeover starting to dry up, and the umbral nature of the Gloomwold bringing more and more malevolent spirits to their doors, especially with less offerings to be made from the limited stores of food and drink. The non-Grigora members of the town found their way north to other settlements, while the orphaned family of lalafell made due under Laroq'to's supervision.

At age 22, fate set out a new path for the whole village: in one night, the Wall fell and the aetheric balance of the entire bayou was thrown into flux. The Witch that had taken over since the prior's death disappeared, never to be found again. The last Witch's eldest son took the remainder of the loyal Grigoras and fled deeper into Gyr Abania, while Laroq'to gathered everyone else, took what supplies they could carry, and crossed the breach in the Wall, bringing everyone into the Twelveswood.

Making use of his knowledge of the superstitious arts and his natural sales technique, Laroq'to took on a new name and got to work finding ways he and his fresh nomads could make their living on the other side of the Wall. Ojojo and her siblings took cues from the geikos of the Far East and became traveling entertainers and companions, teaching themselves dance, music, conversation, and eventually seduction, becoming a highlight of the newly formed Doctor Lacroix's Caravan of Wonders.

This continued for some turns before Ojojo sought to pursue a more stable lifestyle, tired of the life of a wandering minstrel, as well as having to compete with her six siblings all the time. This led her to a temporary stint as a courtesan at the Velvet Rose, a high-class brothel and entertainment venue, where Ojo learned much about performing on the big stage, as well as about “customer satisfaction.” Though she would eventually be forced to seek employment elsewhere, Ojo made many friends at the Rose that lasted up to this day, including her current employer, her maid, her lover, and her mother figure.

After a few moons working at the Manju Teahouse for said mother figure, Kaniko Niko, Ojo was invited to the Heated Hearth, eventually bringing in Laroq'to himself to make a business partnership with the company that ended up with him running its entire mercantile branch. Wanting a more honest and ambitious business, Ojo opened up the Godiva art gallery, where she sells and showcases works from artists all over the realm, and has been trying to learn painting for herself. She seeks a name for herself in the world and a family with her beloved, but time will tell whether her hopes are attainable.
