Hotaru would be recognized by people who frequently visited or live in the villages scattered about the shores of the Ruby Sea. Most locals may insist she is a Mermaid.

Any who lived in any of the Underwater Bubbled cities in the Ruby Sea would recognize her crystalline-blue scales as the tell-tale sign that she is a Water Shaman from the gargantuan Temple-City of Yumemiru Mizu.

• Most would also know that this bubbled city has recently been destroyed, the magic keeping the bubble in place faltering long enough for the entire city to collapse.​

  • It is further an easy assumption to make with this knowledge that Hotaru is probably one of only a handful of survivors of the city's destruction, if not the only one.​

Hotaru has been seen in Yanxia, helping with the Doma Restoration efforts. 

Hotaru has been seen in the Azim Steppe, though the reasons for her being there is anyone's guess. She does not seem to stray too terribly far from a blonde Miqo'te woman.

Hotaru does not seem to be bothered by the cold at all. Even soaking wet in the frigid air of night, she seems entirely unbothered, and has never been seen or heard making complaints regarding cold temperatures.
